How-to-Register-VolView-on-app1

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years ago

For whatever reason, even though I have purchased a VolView license and installed VolView on the machine named app1, the license often doesn't work for other people -- it seems to work only for me. I have asked Kitware why this is so, but they were unresponsive (emails sent 5/26/2005 and 6/14/2005). You can still use VolView on app1, but only in a demonstration mode that has stripped down functionality.

If you'd like to try to register VolView under your own account, do the following. (These instructions are based heavily on Kitware's.)

(1) On the machine named app1 (you may need to use VNC to do this), invoke VolView by typing the command

volview

(2) Select the Register menu item in the Help menu on the main menu bar. This will pop up a wizard that will lead you through the registration process.

(3) Choose the Purchase and register the professional version option, and press Next twice. Indicate that your computer is not connected to the Internet (app1 is actually connected to the Internet, but do this anyway), then press Next.

(4) Press the button with a file icon to browse for the license file. It is located in /export/w/apps/VolView/VolViewLicense.dat. Click on the file to select it, press Open on the file

browser, then press Next on the wizard.

(5) At this point you should receive a message indicating that your license was successfully retrieved. If you receive an error, please send email to support@kitware.com, or call 1-518-371-3971 for assistance.

(6) The VolView User's Guide is located here.
